The first season of Modern Warfare 2 has ended. It’s time to dive into some new in-game content. Activision has released the MW2 Season 2 patch notes, which will include new features such as the new map, modes, ranked play, new weapons, and more.
In spite of a significant delay, MW2’s second season aims to make up for it by adding a ton of additional game content. Activision has provided information on all new content that will be included in the next update of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
The developers have also shared a brief launch trailer. The video didn’t bring much new information to what had been available on the Call of Duty blog. It did however provide a better indication of what to anticipate. Here’s everything announced for the second season update of Modern Warfare 2 and the most awaited ranked play.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Patch notes: New additions and Ranked Play
New game modes

The Modern Warfare 2 next update should be extremely well received. Gamers who have been asking for more game modes since Season 2 will see the introduction of a total of seven new game modes. However, you will not be able to play all of the modes immediately following the update. Only a few will be introduced with the update and the rest will be added later.
Here is a list of every new game mode added to MW2 season 2:
- Drop Zone ( Available on 15 February)
- All or Nothing
- One in the chamber
- Infected
- Gun Game (Available on 15 February)
- Grind (Available on 15 February)
- Hardcore (Available on 15 February)
New weapons

Five new weapons are being introduced: the ISO Hemlock (Assault Rifle), the KV Broadside Shotgun, the Dual Kodachis (Melee Weapon), the Crossbow (Marksman Rifle), and the Tempus Torrent (Marksman Rifle). The one question you’ll probably ask is how you’re going to get them. The first three weapons will be available for free with the Season 2 Battle Pass. You will need to complete event challenges to get the other two.
New 6V6 Maps
The season 2 update includes two core 6V6 maps, Dome and Valderas Museum, as well as two battle maps, Zaya Observatory and Al Malik International. It wouldn’t be accurate to refer to them as entirely new maps. Given that Call of Duty games have previously offered Dome-like maps and the Valderas Museum was playable during the Modern Warfare 2 beta.
Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play
Gamers have been requesting the much anticipated Ranked Play since the game’s launch. This will also be included in the Season 2 patch. The MW2 Ranked Play will have several rankings. Everyone will start from bronze at the beginning, just like other battle royale games. A special rank and a place on the leaderboard will be awarded to the top 250 players with the highest Skill Rating (SR).
By achieving certain SR milestones, players can advance through eight Skill Divisions in the Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play:
- Silver – 900 SR
- Gold – 2,100 SR
- Platinum – 3,600 SR
- Diamond – 5,400 SR
- Crimson – 7,500 SR
- Iridescent – 10,000 SR
- Top 250 – 10,000+ SR
A player’s Skill Rating, which is based on their performance and success in Ranked Play, will eventually determine whatever Skill Division they are assigned in Modern Warfare 2. As a result, the game will become more intensely competitive and your gameplay skills will matter a lot. Get the best teammates and hone your skills if you’re looking forward to playing in ranked mode and want to be at the top of the leaderboard.
In addition to this, there are several bug patches and the debut of a new operator named Ronin. That concludes the major addition in the next Modern Warfare 2 update.
